The Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating sets you apart from other dive instructors by showing your dedication to long-term dive training and being prepared to aid others continue their training as well. Moreover you get to teach specialty diver courses, which means a lot more fun while you work. The DJL MSDT Course will take you from a newly qualified Instructor to a professional diving Instructor specialising in topics you love and learning a unique teach style.
The course consists of two parts:
The Specialty Instructor Preparation Course and The Master Scuba Diver Trainer Internship
The cost of the course and internship in a combined package is 23,000 thb
Specialty Instructor Course (16,000 thb individually)
So you are a new instructor. Just finished the IE. No problem. See your Course Director for PADI Specialty Diving Instructor Training and the Master Scuba Diver Trainer Preparation Course. As a PADI MSDT, you exhibit to a dive employer that you have knowledge and experience in teaching diving and also can teach a variety of specialty diver courses. This makes a dive center or resort more likely to offer you employment. During the MSDT Course you, the instructor, needs to fulfill all performance requirements for that specific specialty course. This includes:
- Dive Briefing
- Conducting the dive (fulfilling all requirements)
- Classroom presentation about missed questions from the Knowledge Reviews (prescriptive teaching)
Speciality instructor courses supply important teaching tips for meeting the requirements of the course. You can choose from any of the 14 standard specialty courses that Davy Jones Locker has. Having five specialty instructor ratings is a prerequisite for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating.
Don’t see a dive specialty on a subject that really interests you? The why dont you write your own diving specialty! It’s easy and it gets you teaching scuba divers about things you like and realy interests you. After all if you find it intersting someone else is bound to.

MSDT Internship (15,000 thb individually)
The usual succession to the MSDT is the internship, which includes team teaching with our senior diving instructors of whom have multiple years of knowledge. Monitoring a senior instructor and team-teach courses from Open Water to Divemaster is as important as the IDC itself. You can examine diverse teaching styles and strategies of teaching in order to create your own style of teaching. Once you obtain your teaching status, you will unaided conduct courses being followed by a senior instructor who will give you more tips and information that will make your courses more fun and successful.
Once you have 25 certifications or more, you will have greater luck in getting employed after the program. You become an instructor with real life teaching experience, having seen real life problems and solutions. Rather than an Instructor who “just” finished the IE, you will have experience behind you.
As a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, you will be able to:
- Teach the specialties you love to teach and hopefully they love to learn
- Enjoy watching your student divers shine as you lead them from PADI Open Water Diver to PADI Master Scuba Diver
- Increase your income with multiple level training,
- Meet one of the requirements to succeed as a PADI Master Instructor.
The benefit of having this experience when applying for work is immense. Every instructor who has completed the Internship Program with us has found employment within 4 weeks of the end of the course! Comparable training, experience, opportunities and accomplished ratings could take years to achieve anywhere else in the world.
Our staff will be happy to organise and confirm your booking requirements.
