Once you are certified as a divemaster the next step on the professional ladder is the Instructor Development Course (IDC). DJL offer 4 different diving instructor internship packages, bronze, silver, gold and platinum.
What Certifications are Available with a Diving Instructor Internship?
The diving instructor internship bronze package which will certify you as an Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).
The silver package which also includes the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) prep course where you choose and train for your specialty ratings.
The gold package also includes the MSDT internship where you complete your first 25 certifications while diving under the observance and guidance of our senior instructors. Once you have certified 25 students you can then apply for your specialty ratings.
The Platinum package continues on from the MSDT internship. After reaching the standard required in the gold package, you will be then be assisting a Course Director on an IDC to gain your Staff Instructor certification.
The cost to take the IDC Bronze package (this is the standard IDC)
IDC Bronze = 39,900 baht
IDC Crewpak & EFRI Manual = 20,500 baht
1 additional month of standard accommodation = 6,500 baht So a total additional cost of 66,900 baht Then you have to pay PADI directly for your Instructor Exam (IE), Instructor cards and Instructor membership Then you have to pay PADI directly for your Instructor Exam (IE), Instructor cards and Instructor membership which will be $1,381 Australian dollars in 2019.
The cost to take the IDC Silver package (which includes the MSDT Prep course)
IDC Silver = 55,900 baht
IDC Crewpak & EFRI Manual = 20,500 baht
1 additional month of standard accommodation = 6,500 baht So a total additional cost of 82,900 baht Then you have to pay PADI directly for your Instructor Exam (IE), Instructor cards and Instructor membership which will be $1,381 Australian dollars in 2019.
Once you have taught your first 25 PADI certifications you can then apply for your Instructor Speciality ratings directly from PADI. Each one will cost $106 Australian dollars 2019.
The cost to take the IDC Gold package (which also includes the MSDT Internship)
IDC Gold = 62,900 baht
IDC Crewpak & EFRI Manual = 20,500 baht
2 additional months of standard accommodation = 13,000 baht So a total additional cost of 96,400 baht Then you have to pay PADI directly for your Instructor Exam (IE), Instructor cards and Instructor membership which will cost $1,381 in 2019.
Once you have completed the MSDT Internship you will have taught your first
25 PADI certifications and you can then apply for your Instructor Specialty ratings directly from PADI. Each one will cost $106 Australian dollars in 2019.
In 2019 there is no charge for the MSDT rating when you take your MSDT here in Koh Tao.

Once you have completed the MSDT Internship you will have taught your first

In 2019 there is no charge for the MSDT rating when you take your MSDT here in Koh Tao.
The charge for the Staff Instructor rating is $173 Australian dollars.
The dates for the IDC are fixed for the course and exam. However, if you are planning to stay here for a longer period you can decide which month will be most suitable for you as you progress through the divemaster training. Once certified there is always the possibility of working on Koh Tao, and PADI has dive centers worldwide with a wide range of employment opportunities
